Grovenor School Food Drive Thank You
To the Grovenor Community:
In the month of December, the Grade 3 students at Grovenor Elementary began their annual initiative to turn their classroom into a Food Bank. The original goal was to collect 500 pounds of food for people in need over the holiday season in Edmonton. The Grade 3s began by advertising to fellow students and their families, followed by reaching out to the wider Grovenor community. The 17 students worked hard each day, collecting and sorting food donations from each classroom, as well as from the community hamper in the front entrance of our school.
After three weeks, our small class had collected, sorted, and transported 1,122 pounds of food to the Edmonton Food Bank. I would like to express our gratitude to the wider Grovenor community for the generosity demonstrated over the holiday season. It is incredibly valuable for the students to engage in volunteerism and observe members of our community giving back in such a meaningful way. We could not have accomplished our goal if it wasn’t for the people of Grovenor. On behalf of myself and the Grade 3 students of Grovenor Elementary, thank you kindly.
