January, 2020 Construction Update
Marigold is going to be completing some early construction work along Stony Plain Road. There will be some geotechnical borehole drilling taking place at Stony Plain Road and 149 Street.
Construction Notice
This work is tentatively scheduled to take place from January 19 - 21, 2021. It involves drilling boreholes to check the ground conditions, which helps the City and Marigold with detailed design work for the project
September, 2020 Construction Update
To meet the overall LRT project schedule, the City has requested that EPCOR perform the utility relocations within specific areas along the alignment prior to LRT construction. In addition, EPCOR will be constructing a new sanitary sewer tunnel west of Groat Road
Bridge, improving reliability of the local drainage system.

Utility Relocation
Much of the work to prepare Valley Line West for construction goes on underground where a large network of electric, water, gas and telecommunications utility infrastructure is located. Utilities in some areas must be relocated to make way for LRT infrastructure, like the tracks that will be built to carry the trains.
Please review the Epcor construction notice for full details.
Building Removal
Crews will continue in 2020 to remove vacant buildings on City-owned properties along the Valley Line West route to make way for future construction and LRT infrastructure. No sidewalk or road closures are expected. Properties will be contained with fencing and crews will use excavators and other machinery along with large bins to remove debris and materials as work progresses.
Public Engagement
As part of its ongoing commitment to public engagement, the City of Edmonton
established Citizen Working Groups in five distinct zones along the Valley Line
West alignment . These groups have been a major method of engaging with
impacted communities during the preliminary design update, and will continue to
function during the detailed design and construction of Valley Line West . Group
members are volunteers reflecting a cross-section of community .
The five zones are:
Zone “F” (Downtown/Groat)
Zone “G” (Stony Plain Road) (Grovenor)
Zone “H” (156 Street)
Zone “I” (Mid-87)
Zone “J” (West 87)
