GROVENOR FALL FEST - Saturday Sept 14, 2024
Fall Fest 2024 is bringing back the backyard BBQ! Plus our usual, music, beer/wine gardens (18+), games, and other fun stuff for us to enjoy at the Grovenor Park. Come on by, catch up with friends and neighbours, meet new friends and neighbours while partaking in celebrating the Community of Grovenor and Community League Day in Edmonton!
This event won't happen without the help of volunteers.
Please consider supporting this event and reach out to any one of the Community League Board Members to discuss how you can help make this event a success. If you would like to volunteer for this event, sign up here: Fall Fest Sign Up
At this time, the Community League would also like to convey that we are seeking donations for door prizes for our event from local businesses and residents. If you are sick please stay at home and join us next year.

Attention Grovenor gardeners! Your Grow Forward Coordinator is looking for volunteers for the
community garden.
Here’s a great way to get involved with the community and enjoy the benefits from growing our own
produce.
Planting the garden- Scheduled for May 18, 1-3 pm based on weather; all members of the community
are welcome to participate. No need to sign up just join us in the garden on May 18.
In order for the garden to be a success, volunteers for the general maintenance of the garden are
required; this involves weeding, watering and harvesting the vegetables and the clean up in the fall.

Notice! - Proposed Amendments to the Zoning Bylaw which affect commercial spaces in residential zones.
At the October 16-23, 2023, City Council Public Hearing, the following motion was made:
"“That Administration provide a report, including amendments to Charter Bylaw 20001, to reduce the maximum Floor Area per individual commercial establishment from 300 m2 to 100 m 2 in the (RS) Small Scale Residential Zone.”
The Zoning Bylaw team has prepared a draft report with the proposed amendments (Attachment 5) to present to Urban Planning Committee on June 18, 2024.

The city advises that the Zoning Bylaw 20001 comprehensively replaces Zoning Bylaw 20001 comprehensively replaces Zoning Bylaw 12800, which was first adopted in 2001. Although Zoning Bylaw 12800 was reviewed, updated and adopted in 2001, the last significant overhaul was completed in 1961, when Edmonton's population was 276,000. Today, Edmonton has grown to a population of more than one million and is on pace to reach 1.25 million by 2030.

Governor Community League is searching for an individual to take on the board member role of Newsletter Editor. As with all board member positions, this one is flexible in that the candidate is able to perform the responsibilities of the role during time that best fits their own schedule.
The newsletter is a staple of the Grovenor Community and has been in circulation for many years. It is published quarterly (March, June, September, and December), to coincide most effectively with relevant/seasonal community league events (e.g. Summer Programs, Fall Fest, AGM, Ice Rinks, Soccer, etc.).
This is an exciting position and the community league hopes to fill it with someone who has as much passion about this community as its many members.

Community members purchasing a card using the EFCL web site will have the card e-mailed to them as an image, which they can save to their smart phone, leave in
their e-mail inbox, or print and save in their wallets.
